The VFS indicates a synchronous write to ->write_iter() via iocb->ki_flags. The IOCB_{,D}SYNC flags may be set based on the file (see iocb_flags()) or the RWF_* flags passed to a syscall like pwritev2() (see kiocb_set_rw_flags()). However, in btrfs_file_write_iter(), we're checking if a write is synchronous based only on the file; we use this to decide when to bump the sync_writers counter and thus do CRCs synchronously. Make sure we do this for all synchronous writes as determined by the VFS. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
