Currently in mmu_notifier invalidate path, hva range is recorded and then checked against by mmu_invalidate_retry_hva() in the page fault handling path. However, for the soon-to-be-introduced private memory, a page fault may not have a hva associated, checking gfn(gpa) makes more sense. For existing hva based shared memory, gfn is expected to also work. The only downside is when aliasing multiple gfns to a single hva, the current algorithm of checking multiple ranges could result in a much larger range being rejected. Such aliasing should be uncommon, so the impact is expected small. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
