Vasu Dev a1a693698d i40e: adds FCoE code to the i40e driver
This patch adds FCoE ( Fibre Channel Over Ethernet ) code for
Intel XL710 adapters. This patch is limited to only new FCoE
offloads code in newly added files by this patch and then
following patches in the series modifies rest of the existing
driver to enable FCoE with i40e driver.

David Ertman 2a7e19af94 e1000e: Fix Runtime PM blocks EEE link negotiation in S5
Adding a function, and associated calls, to flush writes to (read) the LPIC
MAC register before entering the shutdown flow. This fixes the problem
of the PHY never negotiating a 100M link (if both sides of the link support
EEE and 100M link) when Runtime PM is enabled.

David Ertman 2116bc25e8 e1000e: Fix EEE in S5 w/ Runtime PM enabled
The process of shutting down the system causes a call to the close PM
callback. The reset in close causes a loss of link, and the resultant
LSC interrupt causes the Runtime PM idle callback to be called. The
check for link (while link is down) in the idle callback is wiping the
information about the EEE ability of the link partner. The information is
still gone when the PHY is powered back up in the shutdown flow. This
causes EEE in S5 to fail when Runtime PM is active.

Save the link partner's EEE ability in the idle callback so that a Runtime
PM event will not cause a loss of this information.

David Ertman b4c1e6bf1c e1000e: Add support for EEE in Sx states
On I217 and newer hardware, EEE is enabled in the PHY by the software
when link is up and disabled by the hardware when link is lost.

To enable EEE in Sx (When both ends of the link support, and are enabled
for, EEE and 100Mbps), we need to disable LPLU and configure the PHY to
automatically enable EEE when link is up, since there will be no software
to complete the task.

To configure this in the PHY, the Auto Enable LPI bit in the Low Power
Idle GPIO Control register must be set. For normal operation in S0, this
bit must be cleared.

Mark Rustad acb1ce223b ixgbe: Correct X540 semaphore error
In the function ixgbe_get_swfw_sync_semaphore, an incorrect
check was treating success as failure and vice-versa. This led
to manipulating the IXGBE_SWFW_SYNC register without holding

Shannon Nelson cd552cb49e i40e/i40evf: Add nvmupdate support
This implements a state machine intended to support the userland tool for
updating the device eeprom. The state machine implements one-shot reads,
writes, multi-step write sessions, and checksum requests. If we're in the middle
of a multi-step write session, no one should fire off other writes, however, one
shot reads are valid. The userland tool is expected to keep track of its session
status, arrange the placement and ordering of the writes, and deal with the
checksum requirement.

This patch also adds nvmupdate support to ethtool callbacks.
The get_eeprom() and set_eeprom() services in ethtool are used here to
facilitate the userland NVMUpdate tool. The 'magic' value in the get and
set commands is used to pass additional control information for managing
the read and write steps.

The read operation works both as normally expected in the standard ethtool
method, as well as with the extra NVM controls. The write operation
works only for the expanded NVM functions - the normal ethtool method is
not allowed because of the NVM semaphore management needed for multipart
writes, as well as the checksum requirement.

Jacob Keller caafb95d69 ixgbe: don't check minimum link when direct assigned to virtual machine
This patch prevents the display of the minimum link qualification check
if we might be in a virtual machine. This check is incorrect and
misleading in this case, since we actually don't really know what the
available bandwidth is. To do so, we simply check whether each function

is that we're directly assigned to a virtual machine.

Intel Wired LAN Driver Updates 2014-07-16

This series contains updates to i40e only.

Neerav adds support to get the port MAC address from firmware and adds
support to the ndo_get_phys_port_id() callback to provide port specific
unique ids to the netdev layer.

Jakub Kicinski provides 2 fixes, first fixes i40e to never generate a software
time stamp if the hardware time stamp is provided. Second fixes a race
condition on queueing skb for hardware time by using a simple bit lock to
avoid race conditions and leaking skbs when multiple transmit rings try
to claim time stamping.

Paul does some general cleanup of the driver to remove unneeded spaces,
comments that are no longer valid, and break that will never get touched.

Jacob Keller adds a verbose warning message when the incorrect PF attempts
to control timestamping for a port to which it was not assigned. The primary
intent of this message is to help debugging the reason why the SIOCSHWSTAMP
ioctl has failed and to help narrow the cause of the issue.

Anjali Singhai Jain 49d7d93331 i40e/i40evf: Do not free the dummy packet buffer synchronously
The HW still needs to consume it and freeing it in the function

i40e_clean_tx_ring() routine will free up the buffer attached once
the HW has consumed it. The clean_fdir_tx_irq function had to be fixed
to handle the freeing correctly.

Cases where we program more than one filter per flow (Ipv4), the
code had to be changed to allocate dummy buffer multiple times
since it will be freed by the clean routine. This also fixes an issue
where the filter program routine was not checking if there were
descriptors available for programming a filter.

Mitch Williams fc86a970a4 i40evf: set flags before sending message
In some circumstances, the firmware could beat us to the punch, and the
reply from the PF would come back before we were able to properly modify
the aq_pending and aq_required flags. This would mess up the flags and
put the driver in an indeterminate state, much like Schrödinger's cat.
However, unlike the cat, the driver is definitely dead.

To fix this, simply set the flags before sending the request to the AQ.
This way, it won't matter if the interrupt comes back too soon.

Anjali Singhai Jain 129573883c i40e: Fix the FD sideband logic to detect a FD table full condition
Hardware does not have a way of telling a PF how much of the global
shared FD table space is still available or is consumed.
Previously, every PF but PF0 would think there was still space available
when there wasn't. The PFs would continue to try to add filters and fail.
With this new logic if a filter programming error is detected we just
check if we are close to the guaranteed space full and that can be used
as a hint to say, there might not be space and we should turn off the
features. This way we can turn off the feature in SW for all PFs in
time.

Jacob Keller fbd5e2df9f i40e: only create PTP device node once
Currently every time we run through the i40e_ptp_init routine, we create
a new device node. This function is called by i40e_reset_and_rebuild
which is used to handle reset of the device. Even though the 1588
registers only get cleared on a GLOBAL reset, this function is still
called to handle a CORE reset.

This causes a leak of PTP device nodes at every reset. To fix this,
break PTP device clock node creation out of i40e_ptp_init, and only call
this if we don't already have a device created. Further invocation of
i40e_ptp_init will not generate new PTP devices. Instead, only the
necessary work required to reconfigure 1588 will be done.

This change also fixes an issue where a reset can cause the
device to forget it's timestamp configuration, and revert to the default
mode.

i40e_ptp_set_timestamp_mode during the reconfiguration process. A
future patch will ensure that the hwtstamp_config structure is not reset
during this process, so that timestamp mode will be maintained across a
reset.

Mitch Williams 6a8e93db98 i40evf: return more useful error information
When verifying the API version (which is the first time the driver
communicates with the firmware and thus the PF driver), there are many
ways in which a failure can occur. There may be an error from the
firmware, there may be unresponsive firmware, there may be an error from
the PF driver, etc, etc.

Make this function return more useful information, instead of just -EIO.
Propagate FW errors back to the caller, and log a message if the PF
sends an invalid reply.

Anjali Singhai Jain 327fe04bfb i40e: Bypass timeout recovery level 0 so as to not cause MDD
When a Tx hang happens, usually the Tx queue disable fails. At
this point if we try to recover by a VSI reinit the HW gets
unhappy and we get a Malicious Driver Detect (MDD) event.
HW expects a PF reset if a queue disable fails, if we don't do a PF
reset and restart the queue we get an MDD. This patch makes sure we
do a PF reset on Tx hang and that way we avoid any MDD because of Tx
queue disable failure.

Mitch Williams 912257e540 i40evf: check admin queue error bits
FW can indicate any admin queue error states to the driver via some bits
in the length registers. Each time we process an admin queue message,
check these bits and log any errors we find. Since the VF really can't
do much, we just print the message and depend on the PF driver to clear
things up on our behalf.

Currently if the firmware reports DCB capability the driver enables
I40E_FLAG_DCB_ENABLED flag. When this flag is enabled the driver

This patch adds a new flag I40E_FLAG_DCB_CAPABLE that will be set
when the DCB capability is present and the existing flag
I40E_FLAG_DCB_ENABLED will be set only if there are more than one
traffic classes configured at the port.

The number of VSIs that the firmware reports to us is a guaranteed
minimum, not an absolute maximum. The hardware actually supports far
more than the reported value, which we often need.

To allow for this, we allocate space for a larger number of VSIs than is
guaranteed by the firmware, with the knowledge that we may fail to get
them all in the future.

Note that we are just allocating pointers here, the actual (much larger)
VSI structures are allocated on demand.

Mitch Williams d732a18445 i40evf: fix crash when changing ring sizes
i40evf_set_ringparam was broken in several ways. First, it only changed
the size of the first ring, and second, changing the ring size would
often result in a panic because it would change the count before
deallocating resources, causing the driver to either free nonexistent
buffers, or leak leftover buffers.

Fix this by storing the descriptor count in the adapter structure, and
updating the count for each ring each time we allocate them. This
ensures that we always free the right size ring, and always end up with
the requested count when the device is (re)opened.

Emil Tantilov d9cd46cd39 ixgbe: fix detection of SFP+ capable interfaces
In cases where the driver is loaded while there are no SFP+ modules in
the cage the interface was not being detected as SFP capable. To account
for this the driver called identify_sfp in ixgbe_get_settings to make
sure the data is correct. However when there is no SFP+ module in the cage
the driver waits for the I2C reads to time out which can take more than a
second and will cause issues with tools (like net-snmp) that may poll
for that information.

This patch resolves the issue by identifying interfaces with no PHY
type set as SFP capable which allows the driver to detect the SFP module
when the interface is brought up. As result of this we can also remove the
identify_sfp call from ixgbe_get_settings.

v2: remove the 82599 specific check since we have 82598 devices that are SFP
capable.

David S. Miller 014b20133b Merge branch 'ethtool-rssh-fixes' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/bwh/net-next
Ben Hutchings says:

====================
Pull request: Fixes for new ethtool RSS commands

This addresses several problems I previously identified with the new
ETHTOOL_{G,S}RSSH commands:

1. Missing validation of reserved parameters
2. Vague documentation
3. Use of unnamed magic number
4. No consolidation with existing driver operations

I don't currently have access to suitable network hardware, but have
tested these changes with a dummy driver that can support various
combinations of operations and sizes, together with (a) Debian's ethtool
3.13 (b) ethtool 3.14 with the submitted patch to use ETHTOOL_{G,S}RSSH
and minor adjustment for fixes 1 and 3.

Shannon Nelson 7e612411e7 i40e: relax the firmware API version check
As long as the Firmware isn't reporting a higher API major version number
than what the driver knows about, the driver does not need to worry as
much about greater minor numbers. The API changes minor numbers when
things get added to the API, but no existing structs or calls are changed.
The driver has the option of warning that the minor numbers don't match.

This will allow a little more flexibility in handling newer NICs and NVMs
in the field.

David Ertman b3e5bf1ff3 e1000e: Failure to write SHRA turns on PROMISC mode
Previously, the check to turn on promiscuous mode only took into account
the total number of SHared Receive Address (SHRA) registers and if the
request was for a register within that range. It is possible that the
Management Engine might have locked a number of SHRA and not allowed a
new address to be written to the requested register.

Add a function to determine the number of unlocked SHRA registers. Then
determine if the number of registers available is sufficient for our needs,
if not then return -ENOMEM so that UNICAST PROMISC mode is activated.

Since the method by which ME claims SHRA registers is non-deterministic,
also add a return value to the function attempting to write an address
to a SHRA, and return a -E1000_ERR_CONFIG if the write fails. The error
will be passed up the function chain and allow the driver to also set
UNICAST PROMISC when this happens.

Jacob Keller a0cccce2ce ixgbe: avoid duplicate code in suspend and stop paths
Resume path calls .open but suspend path cannot call .stop because
fdirs should not be freed and control over hardware should not be
released until WoL is configured. To avoid having to duplicate all
changes made in .stop on suspend path split out part of .stop that
is relevant during suspend and call it from .stop and during suspend.

This fix also ensures that ixgbe_ptp_suspend is called during the
suspend path, and helps avoid similar errors. We can't call
ixgbe_ptp_stop, since it will free the PTP clock device, which we
shouldn't be doing during a suspend path.

Jacob Keller 63328ada9e ixgbe: extract PTP clock device from ptp_init
In order to properly handle a suspend/resume cycle, we cannot destroy
the PTP clock device. As part of this, we should only re-create the
device on first initialization. After a resume, when ixgbe_ptp_init is
called, we won't create a new clock, and we will use the old clock
device. To that end, this patch extracts the clock creation out of
ptp_init, and only calls it if we don't already have a ptp_clock
pointer.

Rather than clearing the hwtstamp configuration, we should use the known

Jacob Keller a7ef428636 ixgbe: extract the hardware setup from the ixgbe_ptp_set_ts_config
Currently all of the hardware setup logic for the PTP hardware bits is
buried inside of the ioctl which sets the timestamp configuration. This
makes it hard to use this logic in other places (primarily reset), and
this means we can't restore current timestamp mode upon a MAC reset.

Sucheta Chakraborty ed616689a3 net-next:v4: Add support to configure SR-IOV VF minimum and maximum Tx rate through ip tool.
o min_tx_rate puts lower limit on the VF bandwidth. VF is guaranteed
to have a bandwidth of at least this value.
max_tx_rate puts cap on the VF bandwidth. VF can have a bandwidth
  of up to this value.

o A new handler set_vf_rate for attr IFLA_VF_RATE has been introduced
  which takes 4 arguments:
  netdev, VF number, min_tx_rate, max_tx_rate

o ndo_set_vf_rate replaces ndo_set_vf_tx_rate handler.

o Drivers that currently implement ndo_set_vf_tx_rate should now call
ndo_set_vf_rate instead and reject attempt to set a minimum bandwidth
greater than 0 for IFLA_VF_TX_RATE when IFLA_VF_RATE is not yet
  implemented by driver.

o If user enters only one of either min_tx_rate or max_tx_rate, then,
userland should read back the other value from driver and set both
  for IFLA_VF_RATE.
Drivers that have not yet implemented IFLA_VF_RATE should always
return min_tx_rate as 0 when read from ip tool.

o If both IFLA_VF_TX_RATE and IFLA_VF_RATE options are specified, then
  IFLA_VF_RATE should override.

o Idea is to have consistent display of rate values to user.

o Usage example: -

Jean Sacren ce9ccb17ef i40e: fix passing wrong error code to i40e_open()
The commit 6c167f582e ("i40e: Refactor and cleanup i40e_open(),

with the regression by a typo. Due to the commit, the wrong error

	drivers/net/ethernet/altera/altera_sgdma.c
	net/netlink/af_netlink.c
	net/sched/cls_api.c
	net/sched/sch_api.c

The netlink conflict dealt with moving to netlink_capable() and
netlink_ns_capable() in the 'net' tree vs. supporting 'tc' operations
in non-init namespaces. These were simple transformations from
netlink_capable to netlink_ns_capable.

The Altera driver conflict was simply code removal overlapping some
void pointer cast cleanups in net-next.

The queue vectors are originally distributed among the total
number of queues that are configured for a given VSI. The number
of queues that are configured for a VSI depends on the number of
TCs that are enabled for the VSI at VSI setup/creation time.

But, the total number of queues that are configured for a VSI may
change based on change in the total number of TCs enabled as a
result of change in DCB configuration based on DCBX.

Hence, it is required for the queue vectors to be redistributed
when the total queues that are configured for a given VSI changes.

Without redistributing the vectors the queues that are configured
for the newly enabled TCs may not be able to do any Tx/Rx.

Greg Rose 37cc0d2f82 i40e: Use port VLAN in MAC/VLAN filter configuration
The function to set the VF MAC address was not taking the port VLAN
filter into account when setting/clearing/resetting the VF's host
administered MAC address. Be sure to use the port VLAN for VF MAC
filtering configurations.

Mitch A Williams 4e9dc31f69 i40evf: support ethtool RSS options
Add support for getting and setting RSS hashing options, RSS LUT
entries, and getting the number of device channels from ethtool. Because
the LUT is so small for the VFs, we just read and write the device
registers directly instead of maintaining a shadow copy.

Jacob Keller 0dd8357f8f i40e: remove ptp_tx_work timestamp work item
This patch removes the unnecessary ptp_tx_work item. It conflicts with
the interrupt-based handler, and will cause spurious warning messages to
be displayed in the kernel log. Since the hardware can properly trigger
an interrupt, we do not need to poll for an available timestamp in a
work queue any more.

Jacob Keller cafa1fca9d i40e: fix Timesync Tx interrupt handler code
This patch fixes the PTP Tx timestamp interrupt handler. The original
code misinterpreted the interrupt handler design. We were clearing the
ena_mask bit for the Timesync interrupts. This is done to indicate that
the interrupt will be handled in a scheduled work item (instead of
immediately) and that work item is responsible for re-enabling the
interrupts. However, the Tx timestamp was being handled immediately and
nothing was ever re-enabling it. This resulted in a single interrupt
working for the life of the driver.

This patch fixes the issue by instead clearing the bit from icr0 which
is used to indicate that the interrupt was immediately handled and can
be re-enabled right away. This patch also clears up a related issue due
to writing the PRTTSYN_STAT_0 register, which was unintentionally
clearing the cause bits for Timesync interrupts.
