drm/shmem-helper: Avoid vm_open error paths
vm_open() is not allowed to fail. Fortunately we are guaranteed that
the pages are already pinned, thanks to the initial mmap which is now
being cloned into a forked process, and only need to increment the
refcnt. So just increment it directly. Previously if a signal was
delivered at the wrong time to the forking process, the
mutex_lock_interruptible() could fail resulting in the pages_use_count
not being incremented.

Lucas De Marchi 7938f42181 dma-buf-map: Rename to iosys-map
Rename struct dma_buf_map to struct iosys_map and corresponding APIs.
Over time dma-buf-map grew up to more functionality than the one used by
dma-buf: in fact it's just a shim layer to abstract system memory, that
can be accessed via regular load and store, from IO memory that needs to
be acessed via arch helpers.

The idea is to extend this API so it can fulfill other needs, internal
to a single driver. Example: in the i915 driver it's desired to share
the implementation for integrated graphics, which uses mostly system
memory, with discrete graphics, which may need to access IO memory.

The conversion was mostly done with the following semantic patch:

	@r1@
	@@
	- struct dma_buf_map
	+ struct iosys_map

	@r2@
	@@
	(
	- DMA_BUF_MAP_INIT_VADDR
	+ IOSYS_MAP_INIT_VADDR
	|
	- dma_buf_map_set_vaddr
	+ iosys_map_set_vaddr
	|
	- dma_buf_map_set_vaddr_iomem
	+ iosys_map_set_vaddr_iomem
	|
	- dma_buf_map_is_equal
	+ iosys_map_is_equal
	|
	- dma_buf_map_is_null
	+ iosys_map_is_null
	|
	- dma_buf_map_is_set
	+ iosys_map_is_set
	|
	- dma_buf_map_clear
	+ iosys_map_clear
	|
	- dma_buf_map_memcpy_to
	+ iosys_map_memcpy_to
	|
	- dma_buf_map_incr
	+ iosys_map_incr
	)

	@@
	@@
	- #include <linux/dma-buf-map.h>
	+ #include <linux/iosys-map.h>

Then some files had their includes adjusted and some comments were
update to remove mentions to dma-buf-map.

Since this is not specific to dma-buf anymore, move the documentation to
the "Bus-Independent Device Accesses" section.

v2:
  - Squash patches

v3:
  - Fix wrong removal of dma-buf.h from MAINTAINERS
  - Move documentation from dma-buf.rst to device-io.rst

v4:

struct drm_gem_shmem_object instead.

This change reduces the number of upcasts from struct drm_gem_object
by moving them into callers. The C compiler can now verify that the
GEM SHMEM functions are called with the correct type.

For consistency, the patch also renames drm_gem_shmem_free_object to
drm_gem_shmem_free. It further updates documentation for a number of
functions.

Daniel Vetter 804b6e5ee6 drm/shmem-helpers: Allocate wc pages on x86
intel-gfx-ci realized that something is not quite coherent anymore on
some platforms for our i915+vgem tests, when I tried to switch vgem
over to shmem helpers.

After lots of head-scratching I realized that I've removed calls to
drm_clflush. And we need those. To make this a bit cleaner use the
same page allocation tooling as ttm, which does internally clflush
(and more, as neeeded on any platform instead of just the intel x86
cpus i915 can be combined with).

Unfortunately this doesn't exist on arm, or as a generic feature. For
that I think only the dma-api can get at wc memory reliably, so maybe
we'd need some kind of GFP_WC flag to do this properly.

Daniel Vetter 8b93d1d7db drm/shmem-helper: Switch to vmf_insert_pfn
We want to stop gup, which isn't the case if we use vmf_insert_page
and VM_MIXEDMAP, because that does not set pte_special.

The motivation here is to stop get_user_pages from working on buffer
object mmaps in general. Quoting some discussion with Thomas:

On Thu, Jul 22, 2021 at 08:22:43PM +0200, Thomas Zimmermann wrote:

get_user_pages. It pins memory wherever it is, which badly wreaks at least
ttm and could also cause trouble with cma allocations. In both cases
becaue we can't move/reuse these pages anymore.

Now get_user_pages fails when the memory isn't considered "normal", like
with VM_PFNMAP and using vm_insert_pfn. For consistency across all dma-buf
I'm trying (together with Christian König) to roll this out everywhere,
for fewer surprises.

E.g. for 5.14 iirc we merged a patch to do the same for ttm, where it
closes an actual bug (ttm gets really badly confused when there's suddenly
pinned pages where it thought it can move them).

cma allcoations already use VM_PFNMAP (because that's what dma_mmap is
using underneath), as is anything that's using remap_pfn_range. Worst case
we have to revert this patch for shmem helpers if it breaks something, but
I hope that's not the case. On the ttm side we've also had some fallout
that we needed to paper over with clever tricks.
v2: With this shmem gem helpers now definitely need CONFIG_MMU (0day)

v3: add more depends on MMU. For usb drivers this is a bit awkward,
but really it's correct: To be able to provide a contig mapping of
buffers to userspace on !MMU platforms we'd need to use the cma
helpers for these drivers on those platforms. As-is this wont work.

Also not exactly sure why vm_insert_page doesn't go boom, because that
definitely wont fly in practice since the pages are non-contig to
begin with.

v4: Explain the entire motivation a lot more (Thomas)

Neil Roberts 11d5a4745e drm/shmem-helper: Don't remove the offset in vm_area_struct pgoff
When mmapping the shmem, it would previously adjust the pgoff in the
vm_area_struct to remove the fake offset that is added to be able to
identify the buffer. This patch removes the adjustment and makes the
fault handler use the vm_fault address to calculate the page offset
instead. Although using this address is apparently discouraged, several
DRM drivers seem to be doing it anyway.

The problem with removing the pgoff is that it prevents
drm_vma_node_unmap from working because that searches the mapping tree
by address. That doesn't work because all of the mappings are at offset
0. drm_vma_node_unmap is being used by the shmem helpers when purging
the buffer.

This fixes a bug in Panfrost which is using drm_gem_shmem_purge. Without
this the mapping for the purged buffer can still be accessed which might
mean it would access random pages from other buffers

SHMEM-buffer backing storage is allocated from system memory; which is
typically cachable. The default mode for SHMEM objects is writecombine
though.

Unify SHMEM semantics by defaulting to cached mappings. The exception
is pages imported via dma-buf. DMA memory is usually not cached.

DRM drivers that require write-combined mappings set the map_wc flag
in struct drm_gem_shmem_object to true. This currently affects lima,
panfrost and v3d.

The drivers mgag200, udl, virtio and vkms continue to use default
shmem mappings.

The drivers cirrus and gm12u320 change caching flags. Both used
writecombine and now switch over to shmem defaults. Both drivers use
SHMEM objects as shadow buffers for internal video memory, so cached
mappings will not affect them negatively.

Daniel Vetter f49a51bfdc drm/shme-helpers: Fix dma_buf_mmap forwarding bug
When we forward an mmap to the dma_buf exporter, they get to own
everything. Unfortunately drm_gem_mmap_obj() overwrote
vma->vm_private_data after the driver callback, wreaking the
exporter complete. This was noticed because vb2_common_vm_close blew
up on mali gpu with panfrost after commit 26d3ac3cb0
("drm/shmem-helpers: Redirect mmap for imported dma-buf").

Unfortunately drm_gem_mmap_obj also acquires a surplus reference that
we need to drop in shmem helpers, which is a bit of a mislayer
situation. Maybe the entire dma_buf_mmap forwarding should be pulled
into core gem code.

Note that the only two other drivers which forward mmap in their own
code (etnaviv and exynos) get this somewhat right by overwriting the
gem mmap code. But they seem to still have the leak. This might be a
good excuse to move these drivers over to shmem helpers completely.

Marek Szyprowski 6c6fa39ca9 drm: core: fix common struct sg_table related issues
The Documentation/DMA-API-HOWTO.txt states that the dma_map_sg() function
returns the number of the created entries in the DMA address space.
However the subsequent calls to the dma_sync_sg_for_{device,cpu}() and
dma_unmap_sg must be called with the original number of the entries
passed to the dma_map_sg().

struct sg_table is a common structure used for describing a non-contiguous
memory buffer, used commonly in the DRM and graphics subsystems. It
consists of a scatterlist with memory pages and DMA addresses (sgl entry),
as well as the number of scatterlist entries: CPU pages (orig_nents entry)
and DMA mapped pages (nents entry).

It turned out that it was a common mistake to misuse nents and orig_nents
entries, calling DMA-mapping functions with a wrong number of entries or
ignoring the number of mapped entries returned by the dma_map_sg()
function.

To avoid such issues, lets use a common dma-mapping wrappers operating
directly on the struct sg_table objects and use scatterlist page
iterators where possible. This, almost always, hides references to the
nents and orig_nents entries, making the code robust, easier to follow
and copy/paste safe.

Add drm_device argument to drm_prime_pages_to_sg(), so we can
call dma_max_mapping_size() to figure the segment size limit
and call into __sg_alloc_table_from_pages() with the correct
limit.

This fixes virtio-gpu with sev. Possibly it'll fix other bugs
too given that drm seems to totaly ignore segment size limits
so far ...

Commit c40069cb7b ("drm: add mmap() to drm_gem_object_funcs")
introduced a GEM object mmap() hook which is expected to subtract the
fake offset from vm_pgoff. However, for mmap() on dmabufs, there is not
a fake offset.

To fix this, let's always call mmap() object callback with an offset of 0,
and leave it up to drm_gem_mmap_obj() to remove the fake offset.

TTM still needs the fake offset, so we have to add it back until that's
fixed.
