David Howells 7fa3031500 aout: suppress A.OUT library support if !CONFIG_ARCH_SUPPORTS_AOUT
Suppress A.OUT library support if CONFIG_ARCH_SUPPORTS_AOUT is not set.

Not all architectures support the A.OUT binfmt, so the ELF binfmt should not
be permitted to go looking for A.OUT libraries to load in such a case.  Not
only that, but under such conditions A.OUT core dumps are not produced either.

To make this work, this patch also does the following:

 (1) Makes the existence of the contents of linux/a.out.h contingent on
     CONFIG_ARCH_SUPPORTS_AOUT.

 (2) Renames dump_thread() to aout_dump_thread() as it's only called by A.OUT
     core dumping code.

 (3) Moves aout_dump_thread() into asm/a.out-core.h and makes it inline.  This
     is then included only where needed.  This means that this bit of arch
     code will be stored in the appropriate A.OUT binfmt module rather than
     the core kernel.

 (4) Drops A.OUT support for Blackfin (according to Mike Frysinger it's not
     needed) and FRV.

This patch depends on the previous patch to move STACK_TOP[_MAX] out of
asm/a.out.h and into asm/processor.h as they're required whether or not A.OUT
format is available.

Neil Horman 7dc0b22e3c core_pattern: ignore RLIMIT_CORE if core_pattern is a pipe
For some time /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern has been able to set its output
destination as a pipe, allowing a user space helper to receive and
intellegently process a core.  This infrastructure however has some
shortcommings which can be enhanced.  Specifically:

1) The coredump code in the kernel should ignore RLIMIT_CORE limitation
   when core_pattern is a pipe, since file system resources are not being
   consumed in this case, unless the user application wishes to save the core,
   at which point the app is restricted by usual file system limits and
   restrictions.

2) The core_pattern code should be able to parse and pass options to the
   user space helper as an argv array.  The real core limit of the uid of the
   crashing proces should also be passable to the user space helper (since it
   is overridden to zero when called).

3) Some miscellaneous bugs need to be cleaned up (specifically the
   recognition of a recursive core dump, should the user mode helper itself
   crash.  Also, the core dump code in the kernel should not wait for the user
   mode helper to exit, since the same context is responsible for writing to
   the pipe, and a read of the pipe by the user mode helper will result in a
   deadlock.

This patch:

Remove the check of RLIMIT_CORE if core_pattern is a pipe.  In the event that
core_pattern is a pipe, the entire core will be fed to the user mode helper.

Alexey Dobriyan e4dc1b14d8 Use list_head in binfmt handling
Switch single-linked binfmt formats list to usual list_head's.  This leads
to one-liners in register_binfmt() and unregister_binfmt().  The downside
is one pointer more in struct linux_binfmt.  This is not a problem, since
the set of registered binfmts on typical box is very small -- (ELF +
something distro enabled for you).

Test-booted, played with executable .txt files, modprobe/rmmod binfmt_misc.

David S. Miller 8cc8c28a9a [SPARC64]: Fix put_user() calls in binfmt_aout32.c
argv and envp are pointers to u32's in userspace, so don't
try to put_user() a NULL to them.

Aparently gcc-4.2.x now warns about this, and since we use
-Werror for arch/sparc64 code, this breaks the build.

David S. Miller a91690ddd0 [SPARC64]: Top-down address space allocation for 32-bit tasks.
Currently allocations are very constrained for 32-bit processes.
It grows down-up from 0x70000000 to 0xf0000000 which gives about
2GB of stack + dynamic mmap() space.

So support the top-down method, and we need to override the
generic helper function in order to deal with D-cache coloring.

With these changes I was able to squeeze out a mmap() just over
3.6GB in size in a 32-bit process.

David S. Miller 98c5584cfc [SPARC64]: Add infrastructure for dynamic TSB sizing.
This also cleans up tsb_context_switch().  The assembler
routine is now __tsb_context_switch() and the former is
an inline function that picks out the bits from the mm_struct
and passes it into the assembler code as arguments.

setup_tsb_parms() computes the locked TLB entry to map the
TSB.  Later when we support using the physical address quad
load instructions of Cheetah+ and later, we'll simply use
the physical address for the TSB register value and set
the map virtual and PTE both to zero.

David S. Miller 74bf4312ff [SPARC64]: Move away from virtual page tables, part 1.
We now use the TSB hardware assist features of the UltraSPARC
MMUs.

SMP is currently knowingly broken, we need to find another place
to store the per-cpu base pointers.  We hid them away in the TSB
base register, and that obviously will not work any more :-)

Another known broken case is non-8KB base page size.

Also noticed that flush_tlb_all() is not referenced anywhere, only
the internal __flush_tlb_all() (local cpu only) is used by the
sparc64 port, so we can get rid of flush_tlb_all().

The kernel gets it's own 8KB TSB (swapper_tsb) and each address space
gets it's own private 8K TSB.  Later we can add code to dynamically
increase the size of per-process TSB as the RSS grows.  An 8KB TSB is
good enough for up to about a 4MB RSS, after which the TSB starts to
incur many capacity and conflict misses.

We even accumulate OBP translations into the kernel TSB.

Another area for refinement is large page size support.  We could use
a secondary address space TSB to handle those.

Hugh Dickins 404351e67a [PATCH] mm: mm_init set_mm_counters
How is anon_rss initialized?  In dup_mmap, and by mm_alloc's memset; but
that's not so good if an mm_counter_t is a special type.  And how is rss
initialized?  By set_mm_counter, all over the place.  Come on, we just need to
initialize them both at once by set_mm_counter in mm_init (which follows the
memcpy when forking).

Linus Torvalds 1da177e4c3 Linux-2.6.12-rc2
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.

Let it rip!
