Gustavo A. R. Silva 41f4bc61fc platform/chrome: cros_ec_proto: avoid -Wflex-array-member-not-at-end warnings
Use the `DEFINE_RAW_FLEX()` helper for an on-stack definition of
a flexible structure where the size of the flexible-array member
is known at compile-time, and refactor the rest of the code,
accordingly.

Noah Loomans 5e700b384e platform/chrome: cros_ec_uart: properly fix race condition
The cros_ec_uart_probe() function calls devm_serdev_device_open() before
it calls serdev_device_set_client_ops(). This can trigger a NULL pointer
dereference:

    BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000000
    ...
    Call Trace:
     <TASK>
     ...
     ? ttyport_receive_buf

A simplified version of crashing code is as follows:

    static inline size_t serdev_controller_receive_buf(struct serdev_controller *ctrl,
                                                      const u8 *data,
                                                      size_t count)
    {
            struct serdev_device *serdev = ctrl->serdev;

            if (!serdev || !serdev->ops->receive_buf) // CRASH!
                return 0;

            return serdev->ops->receive_buf(serdev, data, count);
    }

It assumes that if SERPORT_ACTIVE is set and serdev exists, serdev->ops
will also exist. This conflicts with the existing cros_ec_uart_probe()
logic, as it first calls devm_serdev_device_open() (which sets
SERPORT_ACTIVE), and only later sets serdev->ops via
serdev_device_set_client_ops().

Commit 01f95d42b8 ("platform/chrome: cros_ec_uart: fix race
condition") attempted to fix a similar race condition, but while doing
so, made the window of error for this race condition to happen much
wider.

Attempt to fix the race condition again, making sure we fully setup
before calling devm_serdev_device_open().

Francesco Dolcini fed99212ac treewide, serdev: change receive_buf() return type to size_t
receive_buf() is called from ttyport_receive_buf() that expects values
">= 0" from serdev_controller_receive_buf(), change its return type from
ssize_t to size_t.

The need for this clean-up was noticed while fixing a warning, see
commit 94d0539425 ("Bluetooth: btnxpuart: fix recv_buf() return value").
Changing the callback prototype to return an unsigned seems the best way
to document the API and ensure that is properly used.

GNSS drivers implementation of serdev receive_buf() callback return
directly the return value of gnss_insert_raw(). gnss_insert_raw()
returns a signed int, however this is not an issue since the value
returned is always positive, because of the kfifo_in() implementation.
gnss_insert_raw() could be changed to return also an unsigned, however
this is not implemented here as request by the GNSS maintainer Johan
Hovold.

Gustavo A. R. Silva 59a9ccf19e platform/chrome: cros_ec_vbc: Fix -Warray-bounds warnings
GCC-13 (and Clang) does not like having a partially allocated object,
since it cannot reason about it for bounds checking.

Notice that the compiler is legitimately complaining about accessing
an object (params, in this case) for which not enough memory was
allocated.

The object is of size 20 bytes:

struct ec_params_vbnvcontext {
	uint32_t                   op;                   /*     0     4 */
	uint8_t                    block[16];            /*     4    16 */

	/* size: 20, cachelines: 1, members: 2 */
	/* last cacheline: 20 bytes */
};

but only 16 bytes are allocated:

sizeof(struct ec_response_vbnvcontext) == 16

In this case, as only enough space for the op field is allocated,
we can use an object of type uint32_t instead of a whole
struct ec_params_vbnvcontext (for which not enough memory is
allocated).

Fix the following warning seen under GCC 13:
drivers/platform/chrome/cros_ec_vbc.c: In function ‘vboot_context_read’:
drivers/platform/chrome/cros_ec_vbc.c:36:15: warning: array subscript ‘struct ec_params_vbnvcontext[1]’ is partly outside array bounds of ‘unsigned char[36]’ [-Warray-bounds=]

Avadhut Naik 0706526ec7 platform/chrome: cros_ec_debugfs: Fix permissions for panicinfo
The debugfs_create_blob() function has been used to create read-only binary
blobs in debugfs. The function filters out permissions, other than S_IRUSR,
S_IRGRP and S_IROTH, provided while creating the blobs.

The very behavior though is being changed through previous patch in the
series (fs: debugfs: Add write functionality to debugfs blobs) which makes
the binary blobs writable by owners. Thus, all permissions provided while
creating the blobs, except S_IRUSR,S_IWUSR, S_IRGRP, S_IROTH, will be
filtered by debugfs_create_blob().

As such, rectify the permissions of panicinfo file since the S_IFREG flag
was anyways being filtered out by debugfs_create_blob(). Moreover, the
very flag will always be set be set for the panicinfo file through
__debugfs_create_file().

Kuan-Wei Chiu d131f1f3b4 platform/chrome: sensorhub: Implement quickselect for median calculation
The cros_ec_sensor_ring_median function currently uses an inefficient
sorting algorithm (> O(n)) to find the median of an array. This patch
replaces the sorting approach with the quickselect algorithm, which
achieves an average time complexity of O(n).

The algorithm employs the median-of-three rule to select the pivot,
mitigating worst-case scenarios and reducing the expected number of
necessary comparisons. This strategy enhances the algorithm's
efficiency and ensures a more balanced partitioning.

In the worst case, the runtime of quickselect could regress to O(n^2).
To address this, alternative algorithms like median-of-medians that
can guarantee O(n) even in the worst case. However, due to higher
overhead and increased complexity of implementation, quickselect
remains a pragmatic choice for our use case.

Here is the "big" set of USB and Thunderbolt changes for 6.7-rc1.

   - USB typec additions of new drivers and cleanups for some existing

 All of these have been in the linux-next tree for a while with no
 reported problems, EXCEPT for some merge conflicts that you will run
 into in your tree. 2 of them are in device-tree files, which will be
 trivial to resolve (accept both sides), and the last in the

 be pretty trivial (take the version in this branch), see here:

Both cros host command and irq disable were moved to suspend
prepare stage from late suspend recently. This is causing EC
to report MKBP event timeouts during suspend stress testing.
When the MKBP event timeouts happen during suspend, subsequent

irq disabling part back to late suspend stage which is a general
suggestion from the suspend kernel documentaiton to do irq
disable as late as possible.

Uwe Kleine-König b98362be7c platform/chrome: cros_usbpd_notify: Convert to platform remove callback returning void
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart
from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks.

To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return
void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to
.remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers
are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove().

Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

Kees Cook 1aa8df90f4 platform/chrome: wilco_ec: Annotate struct ec_event_queue with __counted_by
Prepare for the coming implementation by GCC and Clang of the __counted_by
attribute. Flexible array members annotated with __counted_by can have
their accesses bounds-checked at run-time checking via CONFIG_UBSAN_BOUNDS
(for array indexing) and CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE (for strcpy/memcpy-family
functions).

As found with Coccinelle[1], add __counted_by for struct ec_event_queue.
