Dan Scales c8d6ee12d5 cmd/compile: match Go 1.17 compiler error messages more closely
When being used by the compiler, fix up types2 error messages to be more
like Go 1.17 compiler errors. In particular:

  - add information about which method is missing when a type is not
    assignable/convertible/etc. to an interface.

  - add information about any existing method which has the same name,
    but wrong type.

  - add extra hint in the case that the source or destination type is a
    pointer to an interface, rather than an interface.

  - add extra hint "need type assertion" in the case that the source is
    an interface that is implemented by the destination.

  - the following change in the CL stack also adds information about any
    existing method with a different name that only differs in case.

Include much of the new logic in a new common function
(*Checker).missingMethodReason().

types2 still adds a little more information in some cases then the Go
1.17 compiler. For example, it typically says "(value of type T)",
rather than "(type T)", where "value" could also be "constant",
"variable", etc.

I kept the types2 error messages almost all the same when types2 is not
used by the compiler. The only change (to reduce amount of compatibility
code) was to change "M method" phrasing in one case to "method M"
phrasing in one error message (which is the phrasing it uses in all
other cases). That is the reason that there are a few small changes in
types2/testdata/check/*.src.

Added new test test/fixedbugs/issue48471.go to test that the added
information is appearing correctly.

Also adjusted the pattern matching in a bunch of other
test/fixedbugs/*.go, now that types2 is producing error messages closer
to Go 1.17. Was able to remove a couple test files from the types2
exception list in run.go.

Zachary Burkett d2b435117d test: fix error check messages for 2 types2 tests
Many compiler tests fail with -G=3 due to changes in error message format.
This commit fixes two of these tests, to ensure I am on the right track in review.

Cuong Manh Le 844e1fc6f1 cmd/compile: make typecheckaste correctly report invalid use of "..."
Currently, when "..." argument is passed to non-variadic function, the
compiler may skip that check, but continue checking whether the number
of arguments matches the function signature.

That causes the sanity check which was added in CL 255241 trigger.

Instead, we should report an invalid use of "...", which matches the
behavior of new type checker and go/types.

Matthew Dempsky 581526ce96 cmd/compile: rewrite untyped constant conversion logic
This CL detangles the hairy mess that was convlit+defaultlit. In
particular, it makes the following changes:

1. convlit1 now follows the standard typecheck behavior of setting
"n.Type = nil" if there's an error. Notably, this means for a lot of
test cases, we now avoid reporting useless follow-on error messages.
For example, after reporting that "1 << s + 1.0" has an invalid shift,
we no longer also report that it can't be assigned to string.

2. Previously, assignconvfn had some extra logic for trying to
suppress errors from convlit/defaultlit so that it could provide its
own errors with better context information. Instead, this extra
context information is now passed down into convlit1 directly.

3. Relatedly, this CL also removes redundant calls to defaultlit prior
to assignconv. As a consequence, when an expression doesn't make sense
for a particular assignment (e.g., assigning an untyped string to an
integer), the error messages now say "untyped string" instead of just
"string". This is more consistent with go/types behavior.

4. defaultlit2 is now smarter about only trying to convert pairs of
untyped constants when it's likely to succeed. This allows us to
report better error messages for things like 3+"x"; instead of "cannot
convert 3 to string" we now report "mismatched types untyped number
and untyped string".

Passes toolstash-check.

Alberto Donizetti 1737aef270 cmd/compile: more error position tests for the typechecker
This change adds line position tests for several yyerror calls in the
typechecker that are currently not tested in any way.

Untested yyerror calls were found by replacing them with

  yerrorl(src.NoXPos, ...)

(thus destroying position information in the error), and then running
the test suite. No failures means no test coverage for the relevant
yyerror call.

Luuk van Dijk 50110c9f83 gc: clean up printing.
Got rid of all the magic mystery globals. Now
for %N, %T, and %S, the flags +,- and # set a sticky
debug, sym and export mode, only visible in the new fmt.c.
Default is error mode. Handle h and l flags consistently with
the least side effects, so we can now change
things without worrying about unrelated things
breaking.
