# TrueNAS
TrueNAS Scale is an open-source operating system based on Debian [Linux](../linux/Linux.md) and developed by iXsystems. It is designed to provide enterprise-grade storage solutions with a focus on scalability, performance, and reliability. TrueNAS Scale builds upon the foundation of TrueNAS CORE (formerly FreeNAS), integrating the [ZFS](../linux/filesystems/ZFS.md) filesystem and offering advanced storage features along with additional capabilities for virtualization and containerization.
