Bryan Donlan 0e46e70462 Don't use the 'export NAME=value' in the test scripts.
This form is not portable across all shells, so replace instances of:

  export FOO=bar

with:

  FOO=bar
  export FOO

Jeff King aab0abf7ef t6000lib: re-fix tr portability
It seems that some implementations of tr don't like a
replacement string of '-----...'; they try to find the
double-dash option "---...".

Instead of this pipeline of tr and sed invocations, just use a
single perl invocation.

Jeff King cde2ed25ad t6000lib: tr portability fix
Some versions of tr complain if the number of characters in
both sets isn't the same. So here we must manually expand
the dashes in set2.

Junio C Hamano a6080a0a44 War on whitespace
This uses "git-apply --whitespace=strip" to fix whitespace errors that have
crept in to our source files over time. There are a few files that need
to have trailing whitespaces (most notably, test vectors). The results
still passes the test, and build result in Documentation/ area is unchanged.

Eric Wong 933e4f090d t6000lib: workaround a possible dash bug
pdksh doesn't need this patch, of course bash works fine since
that what most users use.

Normally, 'var=val command' seems to work fine with dash, but
perhaps there's something weird going on with "$@". dash is
pretty widespread, so it'll be good to support this even though
it does seem like a bug in dash.

Junio C Hamano 47e013f920 t6000: fix a careless test library add-on.
It tried to "restore" GIT_AUTHOR_EMAIL environment variable but
the variable started out as unset, so ended up setting it to an
empty string. This is now caught as an error.

Junio C Hamano 2bbcddee87 Adjust diff-raw tests to the status letter change.
We use 'A' for added files instead of 'N' to make the it
visually easier to distinguish from 'M' now.

While we are at it, make the test scripts executable. Yes, I
know it does not matter because t/Makefile runs them explicitly
with "sh tXXXX-blah.sh", but being consistent is always better.

Junio C Hamano 776566000f [PATCH] Prevent t6000 series from dropping useless sed.script in t/
The Makefile in the test suite directory considers any file
matching t[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]-*.sh as the top-level test script
to be executed. Unfortunately this was not documented, and the
common test library, t6000-lib.sh was named to match that
pattern. This caused t6000-lib.sh to be called from Makefile as
the top-level program, causing it to leave t/sed.script file
behind. Rename it to t6000lib.sh to prevent this, and document
the naming convention a bit more clearly.
