Merge branch 'jc/blame-abbrev' into maint

Almost everybody uses DEFAULT_ABBREV to refer to the default
setting for the abbreviation, but "git blame" peeked into
underlying variable bypassing the macro for no good reason.

  blame: use DEFAULT_ABBREV macro
