Merge branch 'jk/commit-date-approxidate'

Recent update to "git commit" broke amending an existing commit
with bogus author/committer lines without a valid e-mail address.

  commit: always populate GIT_AUTHOR_* variables
  commit: loosen ident checks when generating template
